Taking to Instagram to share Manju Kapur’s aspiration to write the book, ALTBalaji wrote, “Manju Kapur talks about what inspired her to pen down Astha’s journey in her book ‘A Married Woman’.

Set amidst the backdrop of Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, Manju Kapur’s novel is a beautiful saga of two bold and beautiful women. Peeplika and Astha who are on their life journey to discover themselves and rise above the odds. The gorgeous duo finds love during the battle of caste and religion. Sharing the joy about the adaptation of her book, she said to an entertainment portal, “I feel thrilled! For 2 reasons – if you are somebody like me and you see something you like, go back to the source, go to the book, and read it. The other reason is that even if you don’t do that, I recognize that not everyone has the time or inclination to read. But still, it’s another medium, a visual one. So, it’s a win-win situation, and I am just delighted.”

ALTBalaji’s The Married Woman web series will start streaming from the 8th of March. The show will see an ensemble of the brilliant actresses of the industry stepping into the lead roles. While Ridhi Dogra is all set to fill in the role of Astha Kalra, Monica Dogra will play Peeplika Khan in the series.

The makers of The Married Woman web series broke the news of Ridhi and Monica joining the cast on Instagram. They unveiled the characters in the recently-launched posters of the show.

In the show, Astha happens to be a middle-class woman who lives with her family in Delhi. She is the perfect wife, daughter-in-law, and a mother. While this 31-year-old aces at every role in her life, she forgets to find her purpose. Astha is a giver, in short!

On the other hand, Peeplika is a free-spirited woman who adores the beauty in everything around her. She is a gorgeous artist who makes her living by painting women. This 35-year-old painter is a carefree person with the will to live for no one but herself.
